Compact 8-Inch Midrange Speaker for Pro Audio Enthusiasts

The PRV Audio 8MR600X is all about extreme mid-range performance. Designed to be a class-leading midrange driver in the pro audio realm, this unit boasts a sensitivity of 98 dB while weighing only 7 pounds. Optimized for professional audio or musical instrument (MI) speaker system applications, a 4-ohm car audio version is also available (model 8MR600X-4).

The powerful magnet assembly ensures high flux concentration, while the ventilated basket design significantly improves thermal connection and heat dissipation. This, in turn, enhances power handling and reduces power compression. The 2-inch dual-layer CCAW voice coil, wound on a polyimide former, offers a generous 14.5 mm winding length for extended Xmax and reduced distortion. The voice coil's 2-inch diameter also ensures high heat dissipation and the necessary motor strength to deliver high sensitivity, even at high power levels, with minimum distortion.

With a Qts of 0.37 and a unique double-roll dimple suspension design, the 8MR600X provides a flat response from 200 Hz to 2,500 Hz, even at high excursion, effectively controlling the natural behavior of its paper cone at the 5.25 mm Xmax. The composite cone is constructed with non-pressed paper (visible on the backside) for reduced break-up and a smooth sound.

Capable of high output and low distortion, this midrange driver is perfect for filling the crucial midrange response in any high-output sound system. The 300-watt RMS and 600-watt program power ratings ensure ample headroom for demanding applications. Recommended for use with a 160 Hz high-pass crossover (12 dB per octave), the 8MR600X delivers a frequency response of 85 Hz to 8,500 Hz at -10 dB.
